My first love was interior design, my second is glass in all its manifestations, although my preference is to fuse it. I now work from my small home studio in Hampshire creating handmade, decorative and unique pieces of art glass for the home, thereby achieving the natural overlap of design and craft. I design through the style spectrum from pretty pastels and sophisticated neutrals to the dark and dramatic creating something for everyone.
The pieces can take days to create with each being cut by hand before being assembled in a kiln and fired at temperatures of around 840 degrees centigrade. Texture is created using powdered glasses and frits and abstract designs by using glass paints which are then fired into the glass. Occasionally I add inclusions of copper or silver wire, copper netting etc.
These pieces are removed from the kiln 24 hours later, the pieces are possibly worked on again, depending on design or cold worked and then returned to the kiln for a further 24 hours. Finally the pieces are laid on a mould, returned to the kiln once more before being slumped into the required shape.
I work on my own through all the processes and each piece is entirely individual with no two pieces ever being exactly the same. If there is a design you would like in a different colour or size please contact me.
The process of creating a piece of art glass is a long one, but one that I have such fun with. Should you decide, having looked through my site to purchase a piece, I hope you or the recipient derive as much pleasure from it as I have making it.
Many thanks for visiting.
